The order form is available from your leader. Payment  by Cash, bank transfer or cheques made payable to 1st Crownhill Scouts.

Remembrance Parade

Sunday 11 November marks the annual day of Remembrance. 1st Crownhill are proud to join with members of our local church in remembering those brave men and women who have given their lives in our service. Please can you gather at the War Memorial at 10.30am ready for the service to start at 10.50am. Please be in full uniform and be aware that there is usually a collection. We very much hope that parents and carers will stay and be part of the service but if you are unable to then please collect your Beaver, Cub or Scout at 12 noon from the church. 

Cubs - Thursday 19 July

The weather forecast is for rain on Thursday night. After a wet Archery evening, a muddy camp, and knowing there is no shelter at the Concrete Cows I have decided that we will meet in the Hall as usual this week. Please ask your parents to collect you at 7.45pm from the Main Hall as we will join in with Beavers for an end of year celebration. Please tell your friends that the meeting will NOT be at the Concrete Cows! Thank you!

Gilwell Information

Hello! Just a quick reminder for all those Beavers and Cubs going to Sunday's Funday at Gilwell the following information may be useful! More information on the activities can be found here!


Coach departs at 8.00am on Sunday 24 June from the Coachway at Junction 14 and leaves Gilwell at 17.00 with the anticpipation of being back at the Coachway around 6pm.


Equipment:

• Full Beaver / Cub Scout uniform - INCLUDING Necker - please make sure all uniform is named!
• Appropriate footwear and clothing - it will probably rain!
• Packed lunch (CLEARLY NAMED in a plastic bag so waste can be left at Gilwell)
• Swimming kit and towel
• Change of clothes
• Plenty of sun cream
• Hat

A Shed-load of Money

Yesterday and today we were fundraising at Blacks in Kingston. Over both days we raised over £380 at first count but this is likely to increase! A huge thank you to Mr Solloway who is hoping that his employer will match our fundraising total and so we may get a total over £800!!!! We would also like to thank all of the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who held buckets, the parents who came and supported us and the leaders and committee for arranging the opportunity! The biggest thanks needs to go to everyone at Blacks who not only let us fund raise, they gave us a tent and a ground mat which are very much appreciated!

Bunting update...

We have come to a long total of 90 meters of bunting! Well done to everyone that took part and I hope they all had as much fun as I did!

Bunting World Record Attempt!

1st Crownhill Scouts

In their first World Record Attempt!

3rd May 2012

 The Parks Trust, Milton Keynes, are hoping to break the record for the longest line of bunting in the world which is currently 1.7 miles! The Parks Trust are aiming for 12,500 triangles (or 2.5 miles)  and we thought it would be a great event for the scouts, and parents, to be involved in. 

We are hoping the scouts will be sponsored - either per triangle (for the very brave!) or for participating and we will put the money to good use by renewing our camping equipment just in time for the big camp later this year! The scout with the most sponsors will win a prize!

Beavers and Cubs in the Main Hall from 6.30pm, Scouts from 7.30pm

Having a stampingly good time!

Tonight the Cubs were challenged to create some collaborate art for their Artist badge! They were given a humongous piece of card with an outline of a tree, a box of inks and another box of nature related stamps. The challenge was to practice cutting as many of them didn't cut carefully and everyone rose to the challenge. I saw so much team work that I was so incredibly proud of them and the concentration was amazing - well done Cubs - you're amazing! I hope the Scouts are as good when I help them with their Artist badge at the end of the term!!!

Gang Show!

Just a reminder that Gang Show rehearsals are upon us again - if you have never done it but would like to try why not attend one of the 'taster' sessions? 

We have lots of Cubs and Scouts who took part last year and all had a fantastic time - so why not go along? For more information please look at the Gang Show website

1st Cow Hill!

We celebrated the end of the year with a walk to the Concrete Cows and had fun and games (and a few treats!). A huge thank you to the parents who stopped to help and to the Cubs who devised the whole night! We sadly said goodbye to our oldest Cubs who are going onto Scouts and whilst they will be very missed we know they'll have a wonderful time with the Scouts! 

A huge personal thank you to every parent who has stopped to help, whether in a meeting in the hall or during one of our trips - I really couldn't do it without you. I must also thank those people who came and shared their expertise - from Martial Arts to Astronomy and from First Aid to Cycling - we loved having you! 

A special thank you to Ben, Josh, Freya and Luke who have been wonderful young leaders and really been a terrific part of our pack. A final thank you to my Cubs - you are the reason I come every week and I am looking forward to planning lots of fun for next year!

Surprising Chocolate knots!

Our evening of knots was not quite what the Cubs had in mind! Instead they were given an evening of chocolate challenges such as a Malteser and spoon race; carrying a Malteser on a straw; passing Maltesers on CDs; the whole six taking a bowl of Maltesers to one end of the hall only stepping A4 paper and making the tallest tower of Maltesers only using cocktails sticks! 

Some Cubs were fabulous at problem solving whilst others we brilliant at eating Maltesers! At the end of the evening the Cubs were surprised to receive a specially designed Chocolate Challenge badge and a small bar of chocolate to eat! The evening was great fun - well done Cubs!

Cubs complete their Cyclist Badge!

Huge congratulations to all of the Cubs who came and completed their Cyclist Badge last week. We had a great fun and were able to thank the wonderful Chris Pyke who showed us all sorts of things from how to ride our bikes properly to how to fix punctures! I am very proud of them all!

Gilwell WAS a Fun Day!

Just a quick post to say that we all had amazing fun at the recent Fun day at the home of scouting, Gilwell. A huge thank you to all the young people who came along, to the leaders and helpers - looking forward to next year already!

Archery

This week the Cubs had the opportunity to go to Archery and they had a great time! Each had a go firing their arrows at the target (some even hit it!) and those who weren't doing Archery were kept busy on a nature treasure hunt! Next week we're going shooting! How cool is Cubs?!
